The A6 Trunk Road (Leicester to M1 Motorway) (Detrunking) Order 2004

  Made 3rd July 2004 
  Coming into force 20th September 2004 

The Secretary of State for Transport has made this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other enabling powers:

     1. This Order may be cited as the A6 Trunk Road (Leicester to M1 Motorway) (Detrunking) Order 2004 and shall come into force on 20th September 2004.

    
2. In this Order - 

      (i) "the principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State;

      (ii) "the trunk road" means the A6 Trunk road; and

      (iii) "the plan" means the plan, numbered HA 10/PS/270, marked "The A6 Trunk Road (Leicester to M1 Motorway) (Detrunking) Order 2004", signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at DEF Records Management Branch Ashdown House, Sedlescombe Road North, St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, TN37 7GA.

     3. The lengths of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Order comes into force.

THE SCHEDULE

LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD


The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between the junction with the A46 Trunk Road at Wanlip, north of Leicester, and Junction 24 of the M1 Motorway, all in the County of Leicestershire. It is shown by broad black dashes on the plan and is approximately 27km in length.
