HIGHWAYS, ENGLAND

The A428 Trunk Road (Cambourne Development Detrunking) Order 2001

  Made 19th July 2001 
  Coming into force 17th September 2001 

The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1], and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:

     1. This Order may be cited as the A428 Trunk Road (Cambourne Development Detrunking) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 17th September 2001.

    
2. The length of the Trunk Road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Cambridgeshire that the new trunk roads are open for through traffic.

    
3. In this Order - 

    (1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

    (2)

      (i) "classified road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;

      (ii) "the deposited plan" means the plan folio numbered HA 011/060/01, marked "The A428 Trunk Road (Cambourne Development Detrunking) Order 2001", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Highways Agency, St Christopher House, Southwark Street, London SE1 0TE;

      (iii) "the new trunk roads" means the new trunk roads and slip roads the Secretary of State proposes to construct in pursuance of the A428 Trunk Road (Cambourne Development Trunk Road and Slip Roads) Order 2001; and

      (iv) "the Trunk Road" means the A428 Trunk Road, known locally as St Neots Road.

THE SCHEDULE

LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROAD


The length of trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is that length of the Trunk Road at Cambourne, north east of Caxton in the County of Cambridgeshire, which is situated between a point on the Trunk Road about 305 metres east of its junction with the Road to Elsworth and a point on the Trunk Road 235 metres east of its junction with Monk Drive.
