The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[
1] and now vested in him[
2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:
1.
This Order may be cited as the A43 Trunk Road (M1 Junction 15A to A16 Stamford) (Detrunking) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 29th June 2001.
2.
In this Order -
(i) |
"principal road" |
as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and |
(ii) |
"the trunk road" |
means the A43 Trunk Road. |
3.
The lengths of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Northamptonshire County Council, Lincolnshire County Council and Peterborough City Council that they will become the highway authority responsible for those lengths of road within their respective boundaries.

THE SCHEDULE
LENGTHS OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD
The lengths of the A43 trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road are situated:
(i) between the roundabout adjacent to the southbound carriageway of the M1 at Junction 15A in the Parish of Milton Malsor in the District of South Northamptonshire in the County of Northamptonshire and the junction with the A45 at Upton Way Roundabout in the District of Northampton in the County of Northamptonshire,
(ii) between a point approximately 330 metres north of the Round Spinney Roundabout in the Parish of Moulton, in the District of Daventry in the County of Northamptonshire and the junction with the A14 in the Parishes of Cransley and Broughton in the District of Kettering in the County of Northamptonshire,
(iii) between the junction with the A14 in the Parish of Thorpe Malsor in the District of Kettering in the County of Northamptonshire and the roundabout junction with the A47 in the Parish of Duddington in the District of East Northamptonshire in the County of Northamptonshire, and
(iv) between the roundabout junction with the A47 in the Parish of Duddington in the District of East Northamptonshire in the County of Northamptonshire and the junction with the A16 in the Parish of Stamford in the District of South Kesteven in the County of Lincolnshire,
and are shown by broad black dashes on the plan folio numbered HA 10/PS/242, marked "The A43 Trunk Road (M1 Junction 15A to A16 Stamford) (Detrunking) Order 2001" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and deposited at DETR Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards On Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
