The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[
1] and now vested in him[
2], and of all powers enabling him in that behalf:
1.
This Order may be cited as The A417 Trunk Road (Cirencester Bypass-Hare Bushes Service Area) (Detrunking) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 7th June 2001.
2.
In this Order -
(i) "principal road" as a classification for a highway means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and
(ii) "the trunk road" means the A417 trunk road.
3.
From the date when this Order comes into force the length of trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as principal road.

THE SCHEDULE
LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROAD
The length of trunk road ceasing to be trunk road is situated at the eastern end of the A417 southbound off slip road and includes the adjacent verges all within the highway boundary, an area of about 230 square metres, located at the roundabout at the junction of the A429 Burford Road and the A417 trunk road southbound off slip, in the county of Gloucestershire, shown by broad black dashes on the plan contained in the plan folio numbered HA 10/PS/298, marked "The A417 Trunk Road (Cirencester Bypass - Hare Bushes Service Area) (Detrunking) Order 2001" signed by authority of the Secretary of State of the Environment, Transport and the Regions and deposited at the Highways Agency, St Christopher House, Southwark Street, London SE1 0TE.
