The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[
1] and now vested in him[
2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: -
1.
This Order may be cited as the A423 Trunk Road (Ryton-on-Dunsmore Roundabout to the A361 Southam Road/A422 Hennef Way Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 3rd May 2001.
2.
In this Order -
(i) "the plan"

means the plan folio numbered HA10/PS/267, consisting of sheets 1 and 2 and marked "The A423 Trunk Road (Ryton-on-Dunsmore Roundabout to the A361 Southam Road/A422 Hennef Way Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2001", signed by authority of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and deposited at DETR Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St. Leonards On Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA; |
(ii) "principal road"
|
as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purposes of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and |
(iii) "the trunk road"
|
means the A423 Trunk Road. |
3.
The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Order comes into force.

THE SCHEDULE
LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD
The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road starts from the southern boundary of the Ryton-on-Dunsmore roundabout, and does not include the circulatory carriageway (starting point marked "A" on the plan), and continues in a southerly direction, through the Districts of Rugby and Stratford Upon Avon in the County of Warwickshire, and the District of Cherwell in the County of Oxfordshire, finishing at a point on the northern boundary of the A361 Southam Road/A422 Hennef Way roundabout (marked "B" on the plan). It is shown by broad black dashes on the plan and is approximately 35.5 kilometres in length.
