The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[
1] and now vested in him[
2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: -
1.
This Order may be cited as the A361 Trunk Road (Southam Road) (Detrunking) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 3rd May 2001.
2.
In this Order -
(i) "the plan"

means the plan folio numbered HA10/PS/268, consisting of sheet 1 and marked "The A361 Trunk Road (Southam Road) (Detrunking) Order 2001", signed by authority of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and deposited at DETR Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St. Leonards On Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA; |
(ii) "principal road"
|
as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purposes of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and |
(iii) "the trunk road"
|
means the A361 Trunk Road. |
3.
The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Order comes into force.

THE SCHEDULE
LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD
The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is the A361 Southam Road in Banbury. It is situated in the District of Cherwell, in the County of Oxfordshire and starts from the A361 Southam Road/A422 Hennef Way roundabout, including the circulatory carriageway (starting point marked "A" on the plan), continuing in a southerly direction and terminating at the northern boundary of the B4100 Castle Street/Warwick Road Junction (marked "B" on the plan). It is shown by broad black dashes on the plan and is approximately 1,100 metres in length.
