The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by paragraph 7 of Schedule 14 to the Access to Justice Act 1999[
1], being satisfied that the duties of the Legal Aid Board under paragraph 6 of that Schedule have been discharged, makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.
This Order may be cited as the Legal Aid Board (Abolition) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 2nd April 2001.
Abolition of the Legal Aid Board
2.
The Legal Aid Board established under section 3 of the Legal Aid Act 1988[
2] shall cease to exist.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order provides for the abolition of the Legal Aid Board, which was established under the Legal Aid Act 1988.
