The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(4) of the Transport Act 2000[
1], hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.
This Order may be cited as the Aerodromes (Designation) (Chargeable Air Services) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st April 2001.
Designation
2.
The aerodromes specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby designated for the purposes of section 77(3)(b) of the Transport Act 2000.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
The CAA may, under section 73 of the Transport Act 2000, specify charges in respect of chargeable air services as defined in section 77 of the Act. Air traffic services provided on behalf of the owner or manager of an aerodrome are, by section 77(3)(b) of the Act, excepted from being chargeable air services unless they are provided on behalf of the owner or manager of a designated aerodrome.
This Order designates London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London Stansted, Aberdeen (Dyce), Edinburgh and Glasgow aerodromes for the purposes of this section.
