PRELIMINARY HEARING EX PARTE
For the Appellant | MR WIDOWSON (ELAAS) |
JUDGE BYRT QC: This is an ex parte hearing in relation to an appeal from a decision of the Shrewsbury Industrial Tribunal in March 1997. The basis of the claim was against both respondents in respect of sex discrimination.
It is our view that it is arguable that the amount of £6,500 awarded against the first respondent and £500 against the second respondent, are too low, and we think it appropriate that this matter should go forward to a full tribunal hearing in order that they can look at the overall total. Equally so, we feel that they cannot properly do that without looking at the criticisms that are made by the appellant in respect of the way that this Industrial Tribunal came to their overall total. Accordingly we think it appropriate that the matter go forward to a full hearing in respect of all grounds set out in the amended grounds of appeal.
