Application of sections 1 to 9. 10.(1) The provisions of this Part have effect with respect to any child who has not attained the upper limit of compulsory school age, and where any of the foregoing provisions of this Part apply in relation to a child at the time when he ceases to be of compulsory school age, they shall continue to apply in relation to him (a)until the time when he attains the age of eighteen or ceases to reside apart from his parents or legal guardian with the person with whom he was residing when he ceased to be of compulsory school age; (b)if while residing as aforesaid he dies before attaining the age of eighteen, as respects the notice to be given under the said provisions on his death. (2) The foregoing provisions of this Part shall not have effect with respect to (a)any child or young person on whom a requirement as to residence is imposed by a supervision order or a probation order; or (b)any child in the care of [the Ministry of Home Affairs] under this Act; (c)any child boarded out by the managers of a training school; or (d)any child in respect of whom there is in force an order made under this Act committing him to the care of a fit person.
