Appeal to the Social Security Commissioner
on a question of law from a Tribunal's decision
dated 18 August 1998
DECISION OF THE SOCIAL SECURITY COMMISSIONER
"He can walk 50 - 60 yards before having to stop because of suddencramp-like pain in his left ankle."
In the reasons for the decision it is stated:-
"He can walk 50 - 60 yards before sudden onset of increased pain."
The claimant's representative at the hearing had stated:-
"Weight bearing is the problem: severe discomfort is experiencedbefore he has to stop: then severe pain."
The appellant had stated:-
"Could walk 50 - 60 yards. Stopped by pain in ankle. Nochange in condition. Treadmill test for angina in October
1997 - walked for almost 4 minutes. Very slow speed and in
pain - 100 yards."
