The Welsh Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the power conferred on them by section 72(4) and (6) of the Elections and Elected Bodies (Wales) Act 2024( 1).
1.—(1) The title of this Order is the Elections and Elected Bodies (Wales) Act 2024 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2024.
(2) In this Order, “ the Act” means the Elections and Elected Bodies (Wales) Act 2024.
2. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 1 January 2025—
(a) section 1 (Electoral Management Board of Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru);
(b) section 2 and Part 1 of Schedule 1 (minor and consequential amendments);
(c) section 26 (Welsh elections information platform);
(d) section 28 (financial assistance schemes to promote diversity in persons seeking elected office);
(e) section 29 (excluded persons);
(f) section 31 (interpretation of Chapter 4 of Part 1);
(g) section 32 (notional expenditure: candidates in local government elections);
(h) section 33 (notional and third party expenditure: Senedd Cymru elections);
(i) section 34 (codes of practice on expenses);
(j) section 35 (authorised persons not required to pay through election agent);
(k) section 36 (restriction on which third parties may incur controlled expenditure);
(l) section 37 (third parties capable of giving notification);
(m) section 38 (code of practice on controls relating to third parties);
(n) section 39 and Part 3 of Schedule 1 (minor and consequential amendments);
(o) section 67 (Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru: governance and audit committee);
(p) section 68 (Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru: power to charge).
3. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 1 April 2025—
(a) section 27 (services to promote diversity in persons seeking elected office);
(b) section 56 (abolition of Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales);
(c) section 57 (Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru functions relating to remuneration);
(d) section 58 (transfer of property, rights and liabilities);
(e) section 59 and Part 4 of Schedule 1 (minor and consequential amendments);
(f) section 60 (savings).

This Order, made by the Welsh Ministers, brings into force certain provisions of the Elections and Elected Bodies (Wales) Act 2024.
Article 2 of this Order brings into force on 1 January 2025, the provisions specified in that article.
Article 3 of this Order brings into force on 1 April 2025, the provisions specified in that article.
