In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 551 and 569(4) and (5) of the Education Act 1996[
1] and now vested in the National Assembly for Wales[
2] the National Assembly for Wales makes the following Regulations:
Citation, commencement and application
1.
- (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (School Day and School Year) (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 30th July 2001.
(2) These Regulations apply only to Wales.
Amendment of the Education (School Day and School Year) (Wales) Regulations 2000
2.
- (1) The Education (School Day and School Year) (Wales) Regulations 2000[
3] shall be amended as follows.
(2) In regulation 4(1) for "the period beginning on 1st May 2000 and ending on 31st July 2001" there shall be substituted "the period beginning on 1st May 2000 and ending on 31st July 2002".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Education (School Day and School Year) (Wales) Regulations 2000 ("the 2000 Regulations"). The 2000 Regulations make provisions about the length of the school day and the school year and further make provision for the number of school sessions that may be devoted to the training of teachers in school teachers' appraisal, the school teachers' pay system and school staffing structures.
These Regulations extend the period within which school sessions may be devoted wholly or mainly to the training of teachers in school teachers' appraisal, the school teachers' pay system or school staffing structures (set out in regulation 4 of the 2000 Regulations).
