His Majesty by and with the advice of His Privy Council, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 2(1)(za) of Schedule 9 to the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009( 1), makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Chief Regulator of Qualifications and Examinations Order 2023 and comes into force on 14th December 2023.
2.—(1) This Order extends to England and Wales.
(2) This Order applies in relation to England only.
3. Sir Ian Bauckham is appointed as the chief executive of the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation and is to be known as the Chief Regulator of Qualifications and Examinations, from 1st January 2024.

This Order appoints Sir Ian Bauckham to the role of chief executive of the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation, which is established by section 127 of the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009. In accordance with paragraph 2(2) of Schedule 9 to that Act, the person appointed to that position is to be known as the Chief Regulator of Qualifications and Examinations.
