The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1A(5) of the Fatal Accidents Act 1976(1), makes the following Order:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Damages for Bereavement (Variation of Sum) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and comes into force on 1st May 2020.
(2) This Order applies only to causes of action which accrue on or after 1st May 2020.
2. In section 1A(3) of the Fatal Accidents Act 1976, for "£12,980" substitute "£15,120".

This Order, which applies only to causes of action accruing on or after 1st May 2020, amends section 1A(3) of the Fatal Accidents Act 1976 by increasing the sum which may be awarded as damages for bereavement in England and Wales from £12,980 to £15,120.
