The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986(1), makes the following Order.
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (Fees) Order 2019 and comes into force on 6th April 2019.
(2) This Order extends to England and Wales and Scotland.
2.-(1) The fee payable by the holder of a licence granted under section 2C of Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 ("the 1986 Act") (licensing of undertakings)(2) is to be determined as follows.
(2) In respect of the period of twelve months beginning on 6th April in any year, there is to be a fixed and a variable element of the fee.
(3) The fixed element for a licence which is in force for the whole or any part of that period is £826.
(4) The variable element for such a licence is £275 which is payable in respect of each person who, during the whole or any part of that period, holds a personal licence which specifies the same establishment as that specified in the licence granted under Section 2C as the place at which an undertaking can be carried on.
3. The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (Fees) Order 2018(3) and the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (Fees) (No. 2) Order 2018(4) are revoked.

This Order, which extends to England and Wales and Scotland, prescribes the fees payable by the holder of a licence issued under section 2C of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986. This Order increases the fixed element of the fee from £757 to £826 and the variable element from £257 to £275.

A licence granted under Section 2C authorises the holder to carry on, at a specified place, an undertaking involving any of the activities mentioned in section 2B(2) of the 1986 Act or such of those activities as are specified in the licence. Section 2C was inserted by S.I. 2012/3039.
