The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred by paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Coroners and Justice Act 2009(1), and after consulting in accordance with that paragraph, makes the following Order.
1. This Order may be cited as the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Alteration of Coroner Areas) Order 2016 and comes into force on 1st April 2016.
2. In this Order-
"coroner area" means a coroner area constituted-
"altered coroner area" means a new coroner area resulting from the combining of coroner areas as set out in the Schedule to this Order.
3. Coroner areas listed in the first column of the table in the Schedule to this Order are combined into the altered coroner area listed in the corresponding entry in the second column.

The Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Coroners Areas and Assistant Coroners) Transitional Order 2013 (S.I. 2013/1625), which came into force on 25th July 2013, constituted the former coroners' districts under the Coroners Act 1988 (c.13) as corresponding coroner areas under the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (c.25).
The Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Alteration of Coroner Areas) Order 2013 (S.I. 2013/1626), which came into force on 26th July 2013, amalgamated some of those coroner areas into new coroner areas.
This Order combines six coroner areas into three new coroner areas.
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant impact on the private, voluntary or public sectors is foreseen.
