The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 8(2) and (3) of the Coinage Act 1971(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order as follows:
1. This Order may be cited as the Trial of the Pyx (Amendment) Order 2016 and comes into force on 15th December 2016.
2.-(1) The Trial of the Pyx Order 1998(2) is amended as follows.
(2) In article 3(1) (coins to be set apart by the Mint for trial)-
(a)in paragraph (a), for "2,000" substitute "10,000";
(b)in paragraph (c), for "3,000" substitute "15,000";
(c)in paragraph (e), for "5,000" substitute "20,000";
(d)in paragraph (f), for "5,000" substitute "30,000"; and
(e)in paragraph (g), for "5,000" substitute "10,000".

This Order amends the Trial of the Pyx Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/1764), so as to alter the provision governing the number of coins to be set apart by the Royal Mint for trial.
An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
