The Secretary of State, in accordance with section 255R of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995(1), makes the following Order:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (United Kingdom Wreck Convention Area) Order 2015.
(2) This Order comes into force on 14th April 2015.
2. The United Kingdom's Convention Area comprises-
(a)the United Kingdom;
(b)United Kingdom waters; and
(c)the United Kingdom's exclusive economic zone(2).

This Order describes the United Kingdom's Wreck Removal Convention Area. The provisions of Part 9A (Wreck Removal Convention) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995, inserted by the Wreck Removal Convention Act 2011, apply in respect of wrecks within that area.
The area, which conforms to Articles 1.1 and 3.3 of the Nairobi International Convention on the Removal of Wrecks 2007, comprises the United Kingdom, its territorial waters and its exclusive economic zone.
The text of that Convention is set out in Schedule 11ZA to the Merchant Shipping Act 1995.
An Impact Assessment has not been prepared for this instrument specifically. A full impact assessment of the effect of implementation of the Wreck Removal Convention Act 2011 will have on the costs of business and the voluntary sector is published with the Explanatory Memorandum on www.legislation. gov.uk.
The United Kingdom's exclusive economic zone was designated by the Exclusive Zone Order 2013, S.I. 2013 No. 3161, in accordance with section 41(5) of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 c.23.
