1. This Order may be cited as The A5 Trunk Road (A5-M1 Link Dunstable Northern Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 2014 and shall come into force on 24 July 2014.
2. In this Order:
(i)"the new trunk roads" means the new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in article 2(2)(i) of The A5 Trunk Road (A5-M1 Link Dunstable Northern Bypass) Order 2014;
(ii)"the trunk road" means the A5 Trunk Road
3. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Central Bedfordshire Council and Hertfordshire County Council that the new trunk roads are open for traffic.

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated from a point about 400m northwest of the centreline of its junction with Thorn Road at Houghton Regis in the County of Bedfordshire marked A to a point marked B on the existing A5 Trunk Road, about 450 metres south east of the centreline of its junction with Chequers Hill at Flamstead in the County of Hertfordshire, a distance of about 14.08km, and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan in folio numbered HA 10/MP/108, marked "The A5 Trunk Road (A5-M1 Link Dunstable Northern Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 2014" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, and deposited at the Department of Communities and Local Government-DfT Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.

This Order authorises the detrunking of a length of the existing A5 Trunk Road, between the lengths described below.
