(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order makes amendments consequential upon the coming into force of section 222 of the Health and Social Care Act 2012 (c.7). Section 222 provides that the body corporate known as the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence is to continue to exist, but is to change its name to the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
As a result of that name change, this Order makes consequential amendments to a number of statutory instruments substituting the name "the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care" for references to "the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence" and substituting the acronym "PSA" for references to "CHRE". This Order also amends the definition of "the Council" in the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence (Appointment, Procedure etc) Regulations 2008 to refer to the Professional Standards Authority for Heath and Social Care.
An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as the Order itself has no impact on the private sector or civil society organisations. A full impact assessment has been produced in relation to the provisions of the Health and Social Care Act 2012, and a copy is available at http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publicationsandstatatistics/PublicationsLegislation/DH_123583 .
