The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 41 of the Highways Act 1980(1):
1. This Order may be cited as the A6 and A5111 Trunk Roads (Raynesway Park Junction Improvement) Order 2009 and shall come into force on 23rd April 2009.
2. In this Order-
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway; and
(2) (a) "the main new road" means the new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order;
(b) "the new trunk roads" means the main new road and the slip roads;

4. The centre line of each of the trunk roads is indicated by a heavy black line on the plan.
5. The Secretary of State directs as respects any part of a highway which crosses the route of any of the new trunk roads that -
(a) where the highway is maintainable at the public expense by a local highway authority, the part in question shall be maintained by that authority, and
(b) where the highway is not so maintainable and is not maintainable under a special enactment or by reason of tenure, enclosure or prescription, the Secretary of State shall be under no duty to maintain the part in question,
until, in either case, a date to be specified in a notice given by the Secretary of State to the highway authority for that highway. The date specified will not be later than the date on which the relevant route is opened for traffic.

The route of the main new road is just over 74 metres in length, from a point A just over 105 metres southeast of the toucan crossing of Raynesway and just under 239 metres southeast of the undefined footpath that enters onto Raynesway, generally eastwards to a point B just over 323 metres west of the Green Lane footbridge in the city of Derby.
The routes of the slip roads are as follows:
(a) a route from the new junction, which the Secretary of State proposes to provide at the A5111 (Raynesway) pursuant to the A6 and A5111 Trunk Roads (Raynesway Park Junction Improvement Side Roads) Order 2009 ("the Side Roads Order"), to the A5111 Trunk Road (this route being given the reference number 1 on the plan)
(b) a route from the new junction, which the Secretary of State proposes to provide pursuant to the Side Roads Order at the proposed A5111 link road (such link road being referenced C in the Schedule to the Side Roads Order), to the A6 Alvaston Bypass Trunk Road (this route being given the reference number 2 on the plan), and
(c) a route from the A5111 Trunk Road to the new junction, which the Secretary of State proposes to provide at the proposed A5111 link road pursuant to the Side Roads Order (this route being given the reference number 3 on the plan).
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order authorises improvements to the A6 and A5111 Trunk Roads at Raynesway Park Junction in Derby. It provides for the removal of the existing roundabout and its replacement by a short length of new dual carriageway. This will provide a direct link between the A6 Alvaston Bypass and the A5111 Raynesway north of the roundabout. This Order also authorises the construction of three new slip roads linking the improved A6/A5111 with side roads to be built under a separate Side Roads Order. A fourth slip road will also be built. This does not appear in the Order because it falls entirely within the existing boundary of the trunk road.
