The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Article 3A(5) of the Fatal Accidents (Northern Ireland) Order 1977(1), makes the following Order:
1.–(1) This Order may be cited as the Damages for Bereavement (Variation of Sum) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 and shall come into force on 1st January 2008.
(2) This Order shall apply only to causes of action which accrue on or after 1st January 2008.
2. In Article 3A(3) of the Fatal Accidents (Northern Ireland) Order 1977, for "£10,000" there shall be substituted "£11,800".

This Order, which applies only to causes of action accruing on or after 1st January 2008, amends Article 3A(3) of the Fatal Accidents (Northern Ireland) Order 1977, increasing the sum which may be awarded as damages for bereavement in Northern Ireland from £10,000 to £11,800.
