The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[
1] and now vested in him[
2]:—
1.
This Order may be cited as The A629 Trunk Road (Thorlby Roundabout to Snaygill Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2007 and shall come into force on 1st October 2007.
2.
In this Order—
(i) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(ii) "the plan" means the plan numbered HA10/OD/359, marked "The A629 Trunk Road (Thorlby Roundabout to Snaygill Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2007", signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at Communities & Local Government, Deposited Document Services, Room F13, Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex, TN37 7GA;
(iii) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and
(iv) "the trunk road" means the Doncaster to Kendal Trunk Road (A629).
3.
The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the North Yorkshire County Council (who will become the highway authority responsible for that length) that the Order has come into force.
4.
The A629 Trunk Road (Thorlby Roundabout to Snaygill Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2003[3] is revoked.

SCHEDULE
LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD
The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is shown by broad black dashes on the plan and is situated between Thorlby Roundabout (Marked ‘A' on the plan) and the Snaygill Roundabout (marked ‘B' on the plan) and measures approximately 3.9 km in length.
