INVESTIGATORY POWERS
The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2007
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 83(2) of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000[
1], the Secretary of State makes the following Order:—
1.
This Order may be cited as the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2007.
2.
The following provisions of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 shall come into force on 1st October 2007.
(a) Part 3 (sections 49 to 56, together with Schedule 2[2]);
(b) section 57(2)(c) and (d)(ii);
(c) section 58(1)(i);
(d) section 59(2)(b) to the extent that it is not already in force;
(e) section 62(1)(b) and (c);
(f) section 65(3)(c), (5)(e), (8)(d) and (e), and (10);
(g) section 68(7)(m) and, in respect of paragraph (m), (n);
(h) sections 71 and 72, to the extent that they relate to Part 3.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force on 1st October 2007 Part 3 (sections 49 to 56 and Schedule 2) of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 which relates to the investigation of protected electronic information. It also commences those parts of Part 4 of the Act which relate to the scrutiny of the powers in Part 3 and to the issue and effect of codes of practice.
