The Electoral Commission[
1], in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 17[
2] and 26[
3] of the Local Government Act 1992, make the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.
—(1) This Order may be cited as the Borough of Waverley (Electoral Changes) (Amendment) Order 2006.
(2) This Order comes into force on the day after that on which it is made.
Numbers of borough councillors
2.
—(1) The number of councillors to be elected for Haslemere East and Grayswood borough ward shall be 3.
(2) The number of councillors to be elected for Hindhead borough ward shall be 2.
Amendment to the 2000 Order
3.
Article 2(b) of the Borough of Waverley (Electoral Changes) (Amendment) Order 2000[
4] shall be revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order amends the Borough of Waverley (Electoral Changes) (Amendment) Order 2000, in order to give full effect to the Secretary of State's decision on recommendations by the Local Government Commission for England for electoral changes in the borough of Waverley.
That Order was made by the Secretary of State. The functions of the Secretary of State under sections 13 to 15 and 17 of the Local Government Act 1992, so far as they relate to electoral changes, were transferred with modifications to the Electoral Commission by the Local Government Commission for England (Transfer of Functions) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/3962) with effect from 1st April 2002.

The Electoral Commission was established by the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (c.41). The functions of the Secretary of State, under sections 13 to 15 and 17 of the Local Government Act 1992 (c.19), to the extent that they relate to electoral changes within the meaning of that Act, were transferred with modifications to the Electoral Commission by the Local Government Commission for England (Transfer of Functions) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/3962).back
