EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Films Co-Production Agreements Order 1985 ("the principal Order") provides that films made in accordance with the agreements between the Government of the United Kingdom and the Governments of the countries listed in the Schedule are to be treated as British films for the purposes of Schedule 1 to the Films Act 1985. This Order extends the list of agreements scheduled to the principal Order to include an agreement with South Africa of 24th May 2006 (Cm. 6866) and removes from the list the agreements with Italy of 30th September 1967 (Cmnd. 3573) and 5th May 1998 (Cm. 4029) which have been terminated. The agreement with South Africa was laid before Parliament on 23rd June 2006 and is available from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website: www.fco.gov.uk. This Order also revokes previous Orders which amended the Schedule to principal Order and have now been superseded.
