IDENTITY CARDS
The Identity Cards Act 2006 (Commencement No.1) Order 2006
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 44(3) of the Identity Cards Act 2006[
1], makes the following Order:
Citation
1.
This Order may be cited as the Identity Cards Act 2006 (Commencement No.1) Order 2006.
Commencement
2.
The following provisions of the Identity Cards Act 2006 shall come into force on 7th June 2006—
(a) section 25 (possession of false identity documents etc.);
(b) section 26 (identity documents for the purposes of s.25);
(c) section 30 (amendments relating to offences), except for the purposes of the references to sections 27 and 28 of the Identity Cards Act 2006 in the amendment made by subsection (4)[2];
(d) section 40 (orders and regulations);
(e) Schedule 2 (repeals); and
(f) sections 1(5) to (8) (definition of registrable fact) and 42 (interpretation) so far as necessary for the interpretation of the provisions specified above.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force, on 7th June 2006, the provisions of the Identity Cards Act 2006 set out in article 2.
