The Secretary of State for Transport makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 29(2) and 103(1) of the Local Government Act 1985[
1].
In accordance with section 29(3) of that Act he has had regard to the number of local government electors in the areas of those constituent councils which appoint members of the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority.
In accordance with section 29(4) of that Act he has consulted with those constituent councils.
Citation and commencement
1.
This Order may be cited as the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority (Increase in Number of Members) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 1st April 2006.
Increase in number of members of the authority
2.
In Part 5 of Schedule 10 to the Local Government Act 1985 (number of members of joint authorities), in the entry relating to North Tyneside, in the final column for "2" substitute "3".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order alters the composition of the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority. From 1st April 2006, the number of members appointed by the Metropolitan District Council of North Tyneside is to be increased from 2 to 3.
A full regulatory impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no impact on the costs of business.
