EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order amends the Consular Fees Order 2005.
The Order increases the fees for (i) issuing passports of not more than 32 pages in the United Kingdom, and (ii) issuing 48 page passports in the United Kingdom. The fees for issuing passports are increased both in respect of applications made by post in the United Kingdom and applications made in person in the United Kingdom.
The Order also introduces a definition of a "biometric passport" and fees for biometric passport services. The fee for issuing a biometric passport in the United Kingdom is the same as the fee for issuing a non-biometric passport in the United Kingdom. The fee for issuing a biometric passport of not more than 32 pages where the application is made abroad is £59.00 for an applicant who is under 16 years and £91.00 for an applicant who is 16 years or over. The fee for issuing a 48 page biometric passport where the application is made abroad is £109.00. The fee for amending or extending an existing passport where the application is made abroad and the passport is a biometric passport is £75.50.
