(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order amends the General and Specialist Medical Practice (Education, Training and Qualifications) Order 2003 ("the 2003 Order"). It inserts the new specialty of sport and exercise medicine into Schedule 3 to the Order. Schedule 3 sets out the specialties in which the United Kingdom awards specialist qualifications (Certificates of Completion of Training).
The 2003 Order implements in part obligations under Directive 93/16/EEC (as amended) insofar as that Directive relates to the training of, the award of qualifications to, and the recognition of the qualifications of, specialist medical practitioners.
