HIGHWAYS, ENGLAND

The A419 Trunk Road (Commonhead Junction Improvement and Slip Roads) (Detrunking) Order 2005

  Made 6th July 2005 
  Coming into force 20th July 2005 

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:

     1. This Order may be cited as the A419 Trunk Road (Commonhead Junction Improvement and Slip Roads) (Detrunking) Order 2005 and shall come into force on 20th July 2005.

    
2. In this Order—

      (i) "the new trunk roads" means the new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in article 2(2)(ii) of the A419 Trunk Road (Commonhead Junction Improvement and Slip Roads) Order 2005[3];

      (ii) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and

      (iii) "the trunk road" means the A419 Trunk Road.

     3. The lengths of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as principal road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the Borough of Swindon that the new trunk roads are open for traffic.

THE SCHEDULE

LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROAD


The length of trunk road ceasing to be trunk road is the roundabout at Commonhead Junction, marked A on the plan, including sections of the approach roads from Pack Hill road, the B4192 road and the A4259 Marlborough Road where they join the roundabout, shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered HA10/MP/035, marked "The A419 Trunk Road (Commonhead Junction Improvement and Slip Roads) (Detrunking) Order 2005" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, and deposited at the ODPM-DfT Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
