The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 326 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000[
1], hereby make the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.
This Order may be cited as the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Designated Professional Bodies) (Amendment) Order 2004 and comes into force on 14th January 2005.
Amendment to article 2 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Designated Professional Bodies) Order 2001
2.
- (1) Article 2 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Designated Professional Bodies) Order 2001[
2] is amended as follows.
(2) After paragraph (h), insert -
(i) the Council for Licensed Conveyancers".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This Note does not form part of the Order)
This Order makes the Council for Licensed Conveyancers a designated professional body for the purposes of Part 20 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (c. 8) ("the Act"). This enables members of the Council of Licensed Conveyancers (subject to certain conditions set out in section 327 of the Act) to be exempt from the requirement to obtain permission from the Financial Services Authority in order to carry out certain regulated activities.
