REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE
The European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2004
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 28(3) and (4) of the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003[
1], makes the following Order:
Citation
1.
This Order may be cited as the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2004.
Commencement of provisions in European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003
2.
The following provisions of the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003 shall come into force on 10th March 2004 -
(a) in the United Kingdom and Gibraltar, section 19 (so far as not already in force and except as it relates to section 8 of the European Parliamentary Elections Act 2002[2]);
(b) in Gibraltar -
(i) Part 1 (so far as not already in force); and
(ii) section 28(2) so far as it relates to the provisions brought into force by paragraph (a) and subparagraph (i).

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force on 10th March 2004 the extension of new sections 1A of and Schedule 1A to the European Parliamentary Elections Act 2002 to Gibraltar. It also commences, for the purposes of Gibraltar, the remaining provisions of Part 1 of the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003 that relate to changes in the total number of United Kingdom MEPs.
