EXTRADITION
The Extradition Act 2003 (Commencement and Savings) (Amendment No. 2) Order 2003
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 221 and 223(3) of the Extradition Act 2003[
1], hereby makes the following Order:
1.
This Order may be cited as the Extradition Act 2003 (Commencement and Savings)(Amendment No. 2) Order 2003.
2.
- (1) The Extradition Act 2003 (Commencement and Savings) Order 2003[
2], is amended as follows.
(2) For article 3 substitute -
"
3.
The coming into force of the Act shall not apply for the purposes of any request for extradition, whether made under any of the provisions of the Extradition Act 1989[3] or of the Backing of Warrants (Republic of Ireland) Act 1965[4] or otherwise, which is received by the relevant authority in the United Kingdom on or before 31st December 2003."

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order amends the Extradition Act 2003 (Commencement and Savings) Order 2003, by replacing article 3 of that Order. Article 2(2) substitutes a new article 3 which makes it clear that the Extradition Act 2003 shall not come into force for any request for extradition made under the existing legislation.
