The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
WHEREAS Her Majesty deems it expedient to modify the Northern Ireland Act 1998[1] and to do so by Order in Council in pursuance of section 87(7) and (11) of that Act:
NOW, THEREFORE, Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 87(7) and (11) of the said Act and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
Citation and Commencement
1.
This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (Modification) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 19th August 2003.
Modification of the Northern Ireland Act 1998
2.
In subsection (6) of section 87 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 at the end there shall be added the following paragraph -
"
(q) the State Pension Credit Act 2002[2] and the State Pension Credit Act (Northern Ireland) 2002[3]".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order adds the State Pension Credit Act 2002 (c.16) and the State Pension Credit Act (Northern Ireland) 2002 (c.14 (N.I.)) to the legislation listed in section 87(6) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (c.47). The effect of this amendment will be to render those Acts subject to the provisions in that section concerning consultation and co-ordination between the Secretary of State and the Northern Ireland Minister having responsibility for social security.
This Order does not impose any charge on business.
