HIGHWAYS, ENGLAND

The A500 Trunk Road (Stoke Pathfinder Project) Detrunking Order 2003

  Made 18th June 2003 
  Coming into force 3rd July 2003 

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: - 

     1. This Order may be cited as the A500 Trunk Road (Stoke Pathfinder Project) Detrunking Order 2003 and shall come into force on 3rd July 2003.

    
2.
      (i) "classified road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;

      (ii) "the new trunk roads" means the new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in article 2 of the A500 Trunk Road (Stoke Pathfinder Project) and Slip Roads Order 2003[
      3];

      (iii) "the trunk road" means the Hanford to Etruria Trunk Road (A500).

     3. The lengths of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as classified road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the Stoke on Trent City Council that the new trunk roads are open for traffic.

THE SCHEDULE

LENGTHS OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROAD


The lengths of the trunk road ceasing to be trunk road are described below: - 

    (1) A length of the trunk road marked 1 on the plan referred to below which measures 32 metres on the east side of Stoke Road Junction.

    (2) A length of the trunk road marked 2 on the plan referred to below which measures 54 metres on the west side of Stoke Road Junction.

    (3) A length of the trunk road marked 3 on the plan referred to below which measures 32 metres on the east side of the City Road Junction.

    (4) A length of the trunk road marked 4 on the plan referred to below which measures 105 metres on the west side of the City Road Junction.

and all shown by broad black dashes on the plan comprised in plan folio HA/14/0D/382 marked The "A500 Trunk Road (Stoke Pathfinder Project) Detrunking Order 2003" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at DfT Records Management Branch, Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex, TN37 7GA.
