In exercise of the powers conferred on the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority[
1] ("the Authority") by sections 13(2) and (3) and 47(7)[
2] of the Gas Act 1986[
3] ("the Act"), and with the consent of the Secretary of State in accordance with section 13(2) of the Act, the Authority hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation, commencement and interpretation
1.
These regulations may be cited as the Gas (Calculation of Thermal Energy) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 1st February 2003.

- (1) The Gas (Calculation of Thermal Energy) Regulations 1996[
4] are amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
(2) In regulation 14, omit the words "who is a member of the Director's staff".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Gas (Calculation of Thermal Energy) Regulations 1996 by removing the words "who is a member of the Director's staff" from regulation 14, which gives a right of entry onto any premises owned or occupied by a gas transporter to a gas examiner appointed under section 13(1) of the Gas Act 1986.
A Regulatory Impact Assessment for this Instrument has been prepared and copies can be obtained from Ofgem, 9 Millbank, London, SWIP 3GE. A copy of the Regulatory Impact Assessment has been placed in the library of both Houses of Parliament.
