The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1(8) of the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993[
1], makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.
This Order may be cited as the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993 (Certain Qualifying Judicial Offices) (Amendment) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 15th January 2003.
2.
In Part II of Schedule 1 to the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993, in the entries relating to:
(a) a member of a panel constituted under section 6(1) of the Social Security Act 1998; and
(b) a member of a panel constituted under article 7(1) of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1998
"full-time" shall be deleted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order amends the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993 in order to remove the limitation that members of appeal tribunals constituted under section 6(1) of the Social Security Act 1998 and article 7(1) of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 must serve full-time in order to qualify as judicial office holders for the purposes of Part I of the Act.
