Being of the opinion that the Teacher Training Agency may, having regard to their general objectives, appropriately discharge the additional function hereby conferred, and having carried out such consultation as appears to her to be appropriate pursuant to section 16(3) of the Education Act 1994[
1], the Secretary of State for Education and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred upon her by section 16(1) and 23(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:
1.
This Order may be cited as the Teacher Training Agency (Additional Functions) (No. 2) (Amendment) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 25th October 2002.

- (1) In article 2(1) of the Teacher Training Agency (Additional Functions) (No. 2) Order 2000[
2] the definition of "graduate teacher" shall be amended as follows.
(2) At the end of sub-paragraph (b) replace "; and" with ", or" and insert the following sub-paragraph after that sub-paragraph -
"
(c) participates in an employment-based teacher training scheme pursuant to paragraph 19 of Part IV of Schedule 2 to those Regulations; and".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order amends the Teacher Training Agency (Additional Functions) (No. 2) Order 2000. It inserts a new sub-paragraph into the definition of "graduate teacher" in that Order. Graduate teachers are unqualified teachers undertaking employment-based teacher training for the purposes of obtaining qualified teacher status pursuant to Part II and IV of Schedule 2 and paragraph 9 of Schedule 3 to the Education (Teachers' Qualifications and Health Standards) (England) Regulations 1999 (S.I. 1999/2166).
