In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 50 and 63(3) of the Education (No. 2) Act 1986[
1] the Secretary of State for Education and Skills hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.
- (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Bursaries for School Teacher Training) (England) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 13th May 2002.
(2) These Regulations shall apply in relation to England.

The Education (Bursaries for School Teacher Training) (England) Regulations 2002[
2] shall be amended as follows.

- (1) In regulation 2(1) delete the definition of "fast track teacher".
(2) In regulation 4(1) insert a comma after "head teacher" and delete the words "or fast track teacher, who has satisfactorily completed his induction period before the relevant date and".
(3) Delete regulation 4(3).

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Education (Bursaries for School Teacher Training) (England) Regulations 2002 in two ways. The exclusion of fast track teachers from eligibility for bursaries and the requirement that to be eligible a teacher must have successfully completed an induction period are removed from those Regulations.

1986 c. 61; section 50 was amended by section 278(6) of, and paragraph 102 of Schedule 19 to, the Education Act 1993 (c. 35) (which continue in force by virtue of paragraph 65 of Schedule 37 to the Education Act 1996 (c. 56)) and section 13 of the Education Act 1994 (c. 30) and section 63(3) was amended by paragraph 107(a) of Schedule 19 to the Education Act 1993. The Secretary of State can exercise the power under section 50 only in relation to England; see article 2 of and Schedule 1 to the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/672).back
