In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994[
1], the Secretary of State for Education and Skills hereby makes the following Order: -
1.
This Order may be cited as the Education (Funding for Teacher Training) Designation Order 2002 and shall come into force on 26th March 2002.
2.
The institutions and bodies referred to in the Schedule are hereby designated as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994.

West of England Psychology Services
Richmond upon Thames Borough Council
Liverpool City Council
Merton Borough Council
Sutton Borough Council
Wirral Borough Council
Reading Borough Council
Windsor and Maidenhead Royal Borough Council
EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order, which comes into force on 26th March 2002, is made under section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994. It designates The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, West of England Psychology Services, Richmond upon Thames Borough Council, Liverpool City Council, Merton Borough Council, Sutton Borough Council, Wirral Borough Council, Reading Borough Council and Windsor and Maidenhead Royal Borough Council as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994.
As a result of this Order, the Teacher Training Agency may make grants, loans or other payments in respect of expenditure incurred or to be incurred by the designated institutions for the purposes of the provision of teacher training and the provision of facilities, and the carrying on of other activities, which the institutions consider it necessary or desirable to provide or carry on for the purpose of or in connection with the provision of teacher training.
