The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 37 of the Prison Act 1952[
1], hereby makes the following Order:
1.
This Order may be cited as the Closure of Prisons (H.M. Young Offender Institution Dover) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 8th February 2002.
2.
The young offender institution known as H.M. Young Offender Institution Dover and situate in the county of Kent shall close on the coming into force of this Order.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order provides for the closure of H.M. Young Offender Institution Dover on 8th February 2002.

Section 37 was amended by paragraph 6 of Schedule 14 to the Criminal Justice Act 1982 (c.48) and applies to young offender institutions by virtue of section 43(5) of the Prison Act 1952 as substituted by section 11 of the Criminal Justice Act 1982 (c.48) and as amended by section 5(4) of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (c.33), read with paragraph 1 of Schedule 8 to the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (c.33).back
