(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations, made under section 22 of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998, come into force on 21st April 2000. They amend the Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) Regulations 1999 ("the Regulations").
Regulation 3 is amended to include an additional eligibility requirement, namely that where a student has previously undertaken postgraduate study of more than 2 years, an award will not normally be made in respect of any of the three institutions, except at the discretion of the Secretary of State for Education and Employment (regulation 3).
Regulation 6 has been amended to include further provisions for travel costs at the College of Europe (regulation 4).
Regulation 7 has been amended to include a further provision relating to travel costs. As living costs at the European Institute are always paid in Italian Lire rather than euros, the figures have been amended accordingly (regulation 5).
