The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, being a Minister designated(1) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) for the regulation of the type, description, construction or equipment of vehicles, and of components of vehicles, and in particular any vehicle type approval scheme, in exercise of the powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 20th April 2000.
2.-(1) Schedule 1 to the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) Regulations 1998(3) shall be further amended by the insertion in the third and fourth columns of the Table of the entries specified below.

These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) Regulations 1998.
Regulation 2 inserts references to recent EC Directives in items 1, 2, 39, 40, 41 and 53 in the Table in Schedule 1 to the 1998 Regulations.
In line with the 1998 Regulations, the Directives are marked with either a * to denote that they are Commission Directives or a ߤ to denote that they are Directives of the European Parliament and the Council.
Copies of the EC Directives referred to in these Regulations can be obtained from the Stationery Office.
