Whereas-
(1) By an order made on 27th July 1995(1) pursuant to sections 218(1) and 220(2) of the Education Act 1993(2) ("the 1993 Act"), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment established the North East London Education Association ("the Association") and ordered that the Association conduct Hackney Downs School from 1st September 1995;
(2) the said school was discontinued on 31st December 1995 pursuant to a notice given by the Secretary of State on 14th November 1995 under section 225(1) of the 1993 Act(3);
(3) by orders dated 22nd December 1995(4) and 7th April 1999(5) the Secretary of State made provision for the disposal of the school property and the discharge of the liabilities of the Association in respect of the school;
(4) the Association has at no time conducted any school other than the said school;
(5) the Secretary of State considers it expedient to make provision for the dissolution of the Association and the transfer to him of the property, rights and liabilities of the Association;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 39 and 45(3) of the School Inspections Act 1996(6), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following order:
1. This order may be cited as the North East London Education Association (Dissolution) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 15th December 2000.
2. The North East London Education Association shall be dissolved on 20th December 2000 ("the dissolution date").
3. All property, rights and liabilities of the North East London Education Association shall on the dissolution date be transferred to, and by virtue of this article vest in, the Secretary of State for Education and Employment.

This order provides for the dissolution of the North East London Education Association on 20th December 2000 and for the transfer of property, rights and liabilities of the Association to the Secretary of State.

1993 c. 35. With effect from 1st November 1996, sections 218 and 220 of the Education Act 1993 were repealed by Schedule 7 to the School Inspections Act 1996 (c. 57) and replaced by sections 31 and 33 of that Act. S.I. 1995/2037 remained in force by virtue of paragraph 1 of Schedule 8. Sections 31 and 33 of the Education Act 1993 were repealed with effect from 1st October 1998 by Schedule 30 to the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (c. 31), but these sections remain in force as regards the Association by virtue of savings provisions in the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (Commencement No. 2 and Supplemental, Saving and Transitional Provisions) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/2212) as amended by S.I. 1998/2459.
Section 225 of the 1993 Act was repealed with effect from 1st November 1996 by Schedule 7 to the School Inspections Act 1996 and replaced by section 38 of that Act. Section 38 of the School Inspections Act 1996 was repealed with effect from 1st October 1998 by Schedule 30 to the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.

Section 39 of the School Inspections Act 1996 was repealed with effect from 1st October 1998 by Schedule 30 to the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, but this section remains in force as regards the Association by virtue of savings provisions in the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (Commencement order No. 2 and Supplemental, Saving and Transitional Provisions) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/2212), as amended by S.I. 1998/2459.
