The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, being designated(1) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Community, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said section 2(2), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, makes the following Regulations:
1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Animals and Animal Products (Import and Export) (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 26th August 2000.
(2) In these Regulations "the principal Regulations" means the Animals and Animal Products (Import and Export) (England and Wales) Regulations 2000(3).
(3) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.
2. In Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations-
(a)after the entry relating to Bristol Port (Royal Portbury Dock) there shall be inserted the following entry-
"Gatwick Airport | All animals other than ungulates (ii)"; and |
(b)the entry relating to Tilbury Port shall be deleted.
3. In Schedule 3 Part I, paragraph 1, to the principal Regulations-
(a)before the words "Council Directive 97/12/EC" where they appear for the second time there shall be inserted the words "The requirements of";
(b)after the entry relating to Council Directive 98/99/EC there shall be added the following entry-
"Directive 2000/20/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (OJ No. L163, 4.7.00, p. 35);"; and
(c)after the entry relating to Commission Decision 99/579/EC there shall be added the following entry-
"Commission Decision 2000/528/EC (OJ No. L214, 25.8.00, p. 42);".

These Regulations amend the Animals and Animal Products (Import and Export) (England and Wales) Regulations 2000 (S.I. 2000/1673) (the principal Regulations) so as to modify the list of border inspection posts set out in Schedule 2, both to correct an omission and to implement Commission Decision 2000/497/EC updating the list of border inspection posts approved for veterinary checks (OJ No. L200, 8.8.00, p. 41).
The Regulations also amend Schedule 3 to the principal Regulations so as to implement the requirements of Commission Decision 2000/528/EC concerning certain protective measures relating to Classical Swine Fever in the United Kingdom (OJ No. L214, 25.8.00, p. 42) and to insert a reference to Directive 2000/20/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Council Directive 64/432/EEC on animal health problems affecting intra-Community trade in bovine animals and swine (OJ No. L163, 4.7.00, p. 35).
A regulatory impact assessment has not been made in respect of these Regulations.
