The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, with the consent of the Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 56(1) and (2) of the Finance Act 1973(1) and by virtue of the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988(2), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:-
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) (Approval of Fitters and Workshops) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 28th June 2000.
2. In regulation 3 of the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) (Approval of Fitters and Workshops) (Fees) Regulations 1986(3) for "£230" there shall be substituted "£244" and for " £93" there shall be substituted "£99".

These Regulations amend the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) (Approval of Fitters and Workshops) (Fees) Regulations 1986 so as to increase the fees for the approval of fitters or workshops for the installation or repair of recording equipment (tachographs).
The fee for the issue of an approval is increased from £230 to £244 and for the renewal of an approval from £93 to £99.
S.I. 1988/643, which was made under section 102 of the Finance (No. 2) Act 1987 (c. 51). The relevant reference in S.I. 1988/643 is Table II of Schedule 1.
