Whereas the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions considers it appropriate for certain roads in the London borough of Barking and Dagenham to be GLA side roads in the interests of the management of traffic and the control of the waiting and loading of vehicles on or in the immediate vicinity of GLA roads:
Now therefore the Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred by section 124A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1) hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the GLA Side Roads (London Borough of Barking and Dagenham) Designation Order 2000 and shall come into force on 19th June 2000.
2.-(1) The roads in the London borough of Barking and Dagenham specified in the Schedule to this Order are hereby designated as GLA side roads(2).
(2) The description of a road includes the intersection of that road and any other road that crosses it at the same level.
(3) In the Schedule "m" means metres.
(4) In accordance with section 124A(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, 3rd July 2000 is hereby specified as the date on which the designated roads are to become GLA side roads.

Article 2
1. Whalebone Lane North-
(a)(north arm) between its junction with Eastern Avenue (A12) and a point 114m north of the southern kerbline of Eastern Avenue;
(b)(south arm) between its junction with Eastern Avenue (A12) and a point 134.5m south of the southern kerbline of Eastern Avenue.
2. Gale Street between its junction with Ripple Road (A13) and a point 6m north of that junction.
3. Kingsbridge Road between its junction with Alfreds Way (A13) and a point 9m south of that junction.
4. King Edwards Road between its junction with Alfreds Way (A13) and a point 15m north west of that junction.
5. Lodge Avenue between its junction with Ripple Road (A123) and a point opposite the boundary wall of 512 and 514 Lodge Avenue.
6. Movers Lane between its junction with Alfreds Way (A13) and a point 28m south of the boundary wall of 155/157 and 159/161 Movers Lane.
7. Renwick Road between its junction with Ripple Road (A13) and a point 20m south west of the southern kerbline of Ripple Road.
8. Ripple Road (A123) between its junction with Alfreds Way (A13) and a point opposite the boundary wall of 507 and 509 Ripple Road.
9. River Road between its junction with Alfreds Way (A13) and a point 107.5m north of the northern kerbline of Waverley Gardens.
10. Unnamed service road (rear of "Ship and Shovel" public house) between its junction with Ripple Road (A13) and a point 11m south west of that junction.
11. Unnamed service road (access to Water Works Pumping Station) between its junction with Alfreds Way (A13) and a point 10m south of the southern kerbline of Alfreds Way.
12. Westminster Gardens between its junction with Alfreds Way (A13) and a point 15m south of the southern kerbline of Alfreds Way.
13. Hertford Road between its junction with London Road (roundabout) and a point 30m north east of the centre triangle island.
14. Highbridge Road between its junction with the southbound unnamed slip road and a point 17m east of the east kerbline of that unnamed slip road.
15. London Road between the borough boundary with the London borough of Newham and a point 32.5m west of the western parapet of River Roding Bridge, including the roundabout.
16. Unnamed southbound slip road between its junction with London Road roundabout and a point 24m south of the southern kerbline of Highbridge Road.

Section 272 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 inserts a new section 124A into the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 whereby the Secretary of State may designate roads or proposed roads which are to be GLA side roads, for which Transport for London will be the traffic authority. This Order designates the roads in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham specified in the Schedule as GLA side roads with effect from 3rd July 2000.
