1. This Order may be cited as the A421 Trunk Road (Marsh Leys Improvement) (Detrunking) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 19th May 2000.
2. In this Order-“
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(2) (i) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State;
(ii)"the deposited plan" means the plan folio numbered HA10/PS/235, marked "The A421 Trunk Road (Marsh Leys Improvement) (Detrunking) Order 2000", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Highways Agency St Christopher House, Southwark Street, London SE1 0TE;
(iii)"the new trunk road" means the new highway the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in The A421 Trunk Road (Marsh Leys Improvement) (Trunking) Order 2000;
(iv)"the Trunk Road" means the A421 Trunk Road.
3. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as principal road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Bedfordshire County Council that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.
